Sun Wind Beach Kitesurfing Resort and Kite School was conceived in 2015 by the ever smiling Susantha Fernando, Kalpitiya's first local kitesurfer. It is the only kite camp in Sri Lanka
wholly owned and operated by local kitesurfers!

Our vision is a warm and welcoming place where people from all walks of life can come together, enjoy kitesurfing, relax and be happy!

Our kite camp is located next to beautiful Kalpitiya Lagoon, which is the main kiteboarding spot in Kalpitiya. The sand bar, main launch spot, is just one minute's boat ride across the lagoon from our place. The surrounding area is very peaceful with coconut plantations, salt pans and sleepy villages. Wild donkeys roam the dirt roads. Our sunsets are out of this world. The nights are peaceful and quiet.

Traditional hospitality in comfortable cabanas

Sun Wind Beach has been made entirely by hand by members of the extended family. Every structure on site is made out with natural locally sourced materials. Our father designed and constructed the panel detailing on the cabanas and huts. Our cousins helped us build the restaurant, cabanas and chill out. The coconut thatching used on the roofs and fencing has been made by our grandmother.
