As the first citizen and on behalf of the Colombo Municipal Council, I welcome you to the beautiful City of Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. While Colombo is well known for its array of attractions to offer its visitors and traditional Sri Lankan hospitality, our great city has so much to offer its residents. Our city is filled with historical buildings, exceptional landmarks, restaurants, parks, beaches and flourishes with performance and fine arts infusing an array of culture. We are proud of our community and family-oriented atmosphere, a city- filled with citizens who care. We are also a progressive city and today with the launching of the web site of the Colombo Municipal Council we have taken that extra step to bring an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability to City Governance. Since taking office in October 2011, I have strived towards significant reforms and investments in information technology and data transparency and today the City's commitment to innovative service delivery, accountability and transparency is fully on display.
