Provincial Development and Good Governance have been major topics of concern for me since I took over the ministerial responsibilities as the Minister of the Local Government and Provincial Councils. My own experience in sub-national development and administrative efforts and the aspirations of the people has encouraged me to be involved in provincial development activities with a vision. The main responsibility of my Ministry is to provide guidance and assistance to the Provincial Councils and Local Authorities and making them active partners in the national development taking place within the policy support of the Mahinda Chinthanaya, Idiri Dekma. This Ministry website gives a comprehensive account of the activities undertaken on behalf of the Government. As we all participate in the sharing of information, the link between the general public and the public institutions will strengthen and widen the standards of service and positively lead to a healthy and friendly understanding in transacting services between such people and the Government.
